Hector was born in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, but has lived in El Paso since 1959. Although he worked as an illustrator in both the Popular and White House department stores, his true passion in art is painting. He “strongly believes that a man, as artist, should always be concerned with the problems of social struggle. Painting is a process of freedom by which he expresses not simply what he sees, but how he sees”.

Hector has received many awards. In 2007 one of his paintings was selected to represent The Chamizal National Memorial (El Paso) at a reception given by first lady Laura Bush in Washington D.C. Home.html
